It’s getting colder outside and that’s why this next drink in our how to make series, will make for the most perfect winter warmer. Gingerbread hot chocolate is a real classic and makes for a cosy night in this winter.
Ingredients you’ll need to make gingerbread hot chocolate
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground allspice
- ⅛ ground nutmeg
- 2 cups (480ml) milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- (Optional) mini marshmallows, gingerbread men and/or whipped cream – to serve
How to make gingerbread hot chocolate
Follow these quick and simple steps on how to make gingerbread hot chocolate and you’ll have the perfect winter warmer.
1. Add 3 tbsp cocoa powder, 3 tbsp of brown sugar and a pinch of salt to the saucepan
2. Following this by adding to 1/2 tsp ground ginger, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground allspice, 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg and ½ tsp vanilla essence
3. Gradually add the milk, whisking as you go, until there are no lumps of cocoa powder in the mixture
4. Bring to a simmer, being careful not to boil, stir frequently
5. Pour into your glass or mug add, gingerbread, marshmallows and whipped cream if you wish, and enjoy!
